My suggestion is that anyone even considering participating in this study should seriously think twice and take the time to learn about the effects of ketamine. A similar drug is likely to have similar side-effects.

Also bear in mind that when drugs don't work for depression, it's not necessarily "treatment-resistant", but rather drug-resistant and being "treated" inappropriately.Resorting to more powerful and potentially more dangerous drugs is probably a poor choice.

It amazes me how few even stop to consider anymore that their depressive symptoms are the result of issues that need to be worked on through psychotherapy. Everyone wants a quick-fix. That's the hook that snags people in desperate pain. This is an exploitative study in that sense and a serious risk.

Just look at the basic info on ketamine first:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketamine
and click on the pharmacological model of schizophrenia section. They're likely to toss in antipsychotic drugs too before you're done.

besides ketamine being potentially hallucinogenic your study is also dangerous because you have people come off antidepressants in 7 days. Ever hear of SSRI discontinuation syndrome??? It makes people VERY sick. You people are dangerous.

Sorry I didn't realize you were a consumer site. I thought you were sponsoring the study.

In any case it's a dangerous study.

I am simply passing on information. I am not "endorsing" or "sponsoring" any of this.

Your points are good ones, Gianna and MemoryArtist (are you two the same person?) However, each person can weigh the pros and cons of any study.

When I was in severe pain, I would have considered anything. I did: ECT. I wish I hadn't. Doesn't mean it or other drugs don't help others. I certainly don't believe in suppressing options that might help people. You are free to reject this or other options that seem or are dangerous to you.

Ha. No. They are definitely NOT the same person.

Passing on info. is great. Maybe you'd also like to post info for other desperate people who might want to try other very dangerous things to make themselves feel better.

Click the links to blogs and people will not be such a big mystery.
