Sat Aug 11: Open 1 - 5 pm; NAMI C.A.R.E. support group, 3 - 4:30 pm

Mon Aug 13: Open 3 to 9 pm; Intro to Mindfulness Meditation with Leah Harris, 3:30 to 5 pm; NAMI Peer to Peer class 9 of 10, 6:45 to 9 pm

Tues Aug 14: Open 4 - 7 pm; Workplace support group 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
Please bring ideas/lists/documentation of books, programs, educational software that we could buy to stock up our workplace resource library. Vendor, cost, title, website, all are good. Printed out documentation is even more helpful. We received a small grant from Carl Freeman Foundation's F.A.C.E.S. of Montgomery, and much of our grant is to address resources needed for helping get people in the workplace.

Tutorial software; Time and Stress Management; Computers; Communications; Rolodex of Resources; Conflict Resolution; Occupational Handbook; Paper/Clutter Management; Writing and Speaking Skills; Organizational Skills; Bullying; Perception (how to be well perceived at work); Management Principles; Self Advocacy; Handling People (esp. difficult people), etc.

Feel free to come up with something that doesn’t fit into these categories!

Wed Aug 15: OFFSITE: AFI (American Film Institute, on 8633 Colesville Rd., intersecting w/ Georgia Ave.) NIH Science in the Cinema series: On the Edge, Irish film about suicide attempts and mental illness and recovery, 7 - 9:30 pm, FREE. Guest speaker will talk about suicide and mental illness after the film. Tickets are FREE, first come, first served, the day of the show. Please show up at least 15 - 20 minutes before 7 pm to ensure seating.


Thur Aug 16: Open 4 - 7 pm; Resources and Referrals, 4:30 to 6 pm.


Sat Aug 18: Open 1 to 5 pm: Donna Lewis, Esq. will run a workshop on Interviewing Techniques and Working w/ Gaps in Employment from 2 p.m. to about 4 p.m. Dr. Swaroop Rao will give a short presentation on her new organization, IEMH - Integrated Employment for Mental Health! (visit www.integratedemploymentformentalhealth.com )The whole session (including Donna and Dr. Rao) should run about 2 hrs.RSVPs desired but not required; light refreshments will be served

Mon Aug 20: Open 4 to 9 p.m.; last NAMI Peer to Peer class, 6:45 to 9 pm.

Tues Aug 21: Open 4 - 7 p.m.; Pizza around 5 pm, RSVP! Donations of $2 - $3 per person requested


Thur Aug 23: Open 4 - 7 p.m., Poetry w/ JoAnne Growney, 4:30 to 6:30 pm

Sat. Aug. 25: Open 1 - 5 p.m., NAMI C.A.R.E. peer led mutual support group, 3 - 4:30 p.m.

Mon Aug. 27: Open 4 - 8 p.m. SAVE the DATE!!! Forum on "Recovery: What is it, How to Get it?", led by Consumer Advocate Randy Bosin, 6 - 7:30 p.m. Discussion on what recovery means for us consumers, how recovery can be embedded in the public mental health system, and what the Maryland Transformation Grant can do to help transmit recovery-oriented programming and paradigms... RSVPs desired, light refreshments served.
